Summer is here in full swing! It’s the perfect time to hop in your backyard hot tub, relax, and enjoy the sunny days. Many people may wonder why you would use a hot tub during the warmer months of summer, but your spa can be a relaxing escape all year round. For the best experience using your hot tub in the summer, we’ve got some tips for you!

Cool the Water

If you want a cooler, relaxing spa experience in your backyard hot tub during hot summer days, keep the temperature of your hot tub to 95 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. The average body temperature is 98.6 degrees, so anything lower than that temperature will feel cool and refreshing – even on the hottest summer day.

You also have the option of turning your hot tub into a “cool tub” by lowering the temperature to 85 degrees or lower. To keep the water cool, ensure that you have a high-quality hot tub cover securely on when not in use, to prevent the water heating from sunlight. When you begin to raise the water temperature back up to its normal temperature as summer winds down, bring the temperature up gradually. While you could fluctuate the temperature of your spa regularly, it is harsh on the system and can wreak havoc on your electricity bill. Instead, we recommend selecting a temperature range for the season and stay within it.

Stay Hydrated

If you leave your hot tub at a higher temperature and enjoy the warm water, ensure that you keep hydrated! Sitting in hot water can drain your body of fluids, and you may not realize that you are losing fluid if you are sitting in water. Keep a bottle of water nearby and drink regularly.

Enjoy Your Hot Tub at Night

Many backyard hot tub owners use their spa most frequently after the sun has set, enjoying the cooler temperatures that come in the evening. Many portable hot tubs feature colourful LED lighting that makes nighttime hot tubbing even more enjoyable!
